Best Beer Pairing For BBQ

Let’s face it, BBQ and beer go hand in hand. Unless, you are one not to imbibe, you’re always looking for a good beer pairing for your backyard BBQ and get togethers.

When it comes to BBQ why not know the perfect beer pairing for your cook (and your guests.) The most important thing to remember is that you always want to select a beer with complimentary flavors to the food you are serving.

Quick Beer Pairing Guide

Chicken & Seafood: Light Lager, Pilsner, Witbier, Hefeweizen, Saison
Pork: Indian Pale Ale (IPA), Session, Pale Ale, German Lager, Porter
Steak: Brown Ale, Porter, Stout
Brisket / Beef Ribs: IPA, Belgian Dubbel or Tripel, Stout

Keep in mind, if you are using a heavier sauce on your pork, especially a sweeter based one, don’t go for a beer that is on the sweeter side. Pair a brighter, hoppier beer with a sweet barbecue sauce to balance the flavor. If you are using more of a vinegar-based or tangy sauce, a Porter with a hint of sweetness is going to complement nicely.

Use this information as a guide and see how your cooks pair with our suggestions. Also, remember, there’s no shame in the game when it comes to cracking open a Miller Lite, Budweiser or my favorite Yuengling while you’re cooking.

As always, Cheers! (and BBQ responsibly.)
