The Best Grilled Carne Asada Tacos
There is almost no one on Earth that does not like tacos. But, not all tacos are created equal. let’s talk about my favorites — grilled carne asada Street tacos.
Drawing on my time living in Southwest and California, my love for tacos runs deep. The best spot for tacos can be debated for hours amongst friends (by the way, Oscar’s in San Diego is the best), just like craft beer or baseball stats.
There are so many different ways to make tacos. There are Shrimp Tacos, Fish Tacos, Traditional Beef, Shredded Chicken and so on, but today, we are talking about Grilled Carne Asada Street Tacos.
What are Street Tacos? A street taco is a traditional Mexican taco, which is served on a corn tortilla with meat, onions, and cilantro. No frills — no lettuce, tomatoes or anything. Street tacos are as basic as it gets when it comes to traditional Mexican food. The best thing about a Grilled Carne Asada Street Taco is the grilled meat is the star of the show and the taste does not get lost with the dressings.

- Dice Onion, Tomato and Pepper and add to small container with lime and cilantro for your Pico
- Get the grill hot and setup up for direct cooking
- Place steak over heat and grill for 4 minutes per side (longer if it’s a thicker cut) and flip.
- Before removing steak with about 2 min left in the cook place corn tortillas over heat
- Remove and allow steak to rest for 10-15 min and slice for tacos
- Dress your street tacos with Steak and Pico on the corn tortilla. (I add a little base of guacamole to the tortilla before dressing.)
- Repeat as many times as you desire — or as many times as you can handle
Taco Tuesdays are always a fun family event. Everyone like their tacos slightly different, but this is how I remember Street Tacos with Grilled Carne Asada when I lived in California, Arizona and the times I visited Mexico.
